Police Chief Clark Quiring from Forest Lake affirmed that the teens have two of them 17 years , other one is 18 and one 19. They have purchased an incense product which was called “Bayou Blast” from a local business. The incense product is believed to have a form of synthetic marijuana called K-2. Those four teens told police that they felt ill immediately after they smoked the product. On the packaging is a warning for buyers that the product is not for human consumption. Incense smoking is different than cigarettes.

That product is usually burned in homes to give a pleasant odor and is not directly ingested. Quiring told Bayou Blast is a considered to be a legal product that can be sold only to adults. He also said that smoking is not illegal but is not smart at all.

Valerie Doten is the mother of one of those teens and implored the Forest Lake City Council to act against stores which sell Bayou Blasters. Doten said during the open forum portion on May 24. She also added that although one ingredient in the incense is an artificial form of THC, the active ingredient is marijuana. In Minnesota the incense is not considered a controlled substance. The same lady read a list of countries and places where the incense are banned because they contain artificial THC.
