Celebrities are always worried about their looks. They have to make impressions all the time on people or on their fans, otherwise they will not become famous.

In the beginning of last century smoking habit was a very important part of good, impressive look: it was a habit of famous and rich people that is why many people picked it up. The times are different now and cigarettes don’t make such a big impression on people. Even if it is like that, famous people still continue to smoke. There appears an important question about celebrities with cigarettes in their mouths.

Audrey Hepburn smoking

For many years almost every star in Hollywood was smoking and was very proud of it. Let’s take in example the picture of Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” where she is sitting at a table with a long cigarette holding it elegantly. For many women she was like an idol, many of them wanted to become like her. But not many persons knew what problems caused her smoking. Many persons still don’t know that she was a heavy smoker. She was smoking like two-three packs of cigarettes daily. As a result of this habit the actress died of cancer at 63.

Many celebrities have started this habit because they had a smoking role in a movie. Their character had to have a cigarette, so after taking one they had them all the time for many years. For some of them it is a part of their image for example Kate Moss is regularly photographed with her cigarette and a lighter together with her boyfriend British rocker Pete Doherty who is also a chain smoker. Pete Doherty is always seen with a cigarette in his mouth, that is why sometimes is hard to imagine him without one. There is such a big number of those who do not mind smoking in public. In example we can bring: Al Pacino, Britney Spears, Jennifer Aniston, Bob Dylan, Heath Ledger and Nicole Kidman. These celebrities by smoking influence their fans not even realizing how much. Teenagers jump into smoking because they see their idols on TV with cigarettes.

In the present many celebrities have changed their priorities and choose to stop smoking, because they realize what harm does nicotine to their body. Their image-makers advise them to quit so that the skin would look better. A research has demonstrated that heavy smokers have so called “smokers face” when they are older. The process of skin aging is accelerated by about 10-15 years.

Susan Sarandon, is a known actress because of her beauty and beautiful skin, she is 60-year-old and she says that she used to smoke a lot, but chose to give up smoking because she wanted to remain beautiful. At this age she sees many older people whose appearance has been influenced by smoking and Susan is glad that she did not touch cigarettes for years.

So if there were more celebrities who wanted to quit for different reasons or avoid it for their kids, the number of their fans who are smoking would be smaller.
